Happy Mother's Day, Ammis!
I hope you got to sleep in.
Also, I know it's been a minute.
If you recall, my New Year's resolution was to publish ammi.ai every two weeks. I fell off that wagon by March 🙃.
BUT I promise I have a good excuse: in early March, I started a new job! My precious kid-free hours are now accounted for, hence this newsletter has suffered some neglect. When faced with the nightly choice - sleep or newsletter - I chose sleep, and I hope y’all can appreciate that.
It's 10:22 p.m. on Saturday, May 9th, the kids are snoozing, and I would be remiss if I didn’t get a Mother’s Day greeting and update out to this amazing community. I have Audiopen-ed everything I've been up to, what's happening with ammi.ai, and what's coming next.
Spoiler: the ammi.ai garden is alive and well! 💚🌳
This issue will look a little different — more of an update digest than a full letter. The next one should be back to our usual format. But for now, here's what's been growing on out here.

The best marketing ideas come from marketers who live it.
That’s what this newsletter delivers.
The Marketing Millennials is a look inside what’s working right now for other marketers. No theory. No fluff. Just real insights and ideas you can actually use—from marketers who’ve been there, done that, and are sharing the playbook.
Every newsletter is written by Daniel Murray, a marketer obsessed with what goes into great marketing. Expect fresh takes, hot topics, and the kind of stuff you’ll want to steal for your next campaign.
Because marketing shouldn’t feel like guesswork. And you shouldn’t have to dig for the good stuff.

🌱 March 24: Common Sense Summit, San Francisco
I had the honor of attending the Common Sense Summit on Kids and Families, where Common Sense Media unveiled their research called Generation AI: What Kids and Families Think About AI. You can read the full report here.

One of my favorite parts about the summit was when high school students came onstage to share their perspectives on AI. The students, named Josh and Sophie, shared their desire for practical guidance and policy. They’re not finding clear answers from their parents/teachers/lawmakers and want concrete support.
Common Sense Media is doing incredible work by hearing students’ and families’ perspectives and bringing together policymakers, educators, and families to move the needle forward.
Just last week, Common Sense announced their new initiative, the Youth AI Safety Institute, an independent research and testing organization focused on one urgent question: What does it take for AI to be safe and developmentally appropriate for kids? I look forward to seeing the work this institute does and sharing it with you all!
☀ March 27: National AI Literacy Day with RaisingAI.Kids
On National AI Literacy Day, I teamed up with Sarah Dooley of AI-Empowered Mom and Julie Kelleher of LIKEAMOTHER.AI to officially launch RaisingAI.Kids — a collective of AI literacy advocates building a trusted space for families navigating AI with their children.

We marked the launch with a panel moderated by the wonderful Deanna Leonard, and each of us shared one thing parents could do that day to step into the AI conversation:
Sarah: delegate one draining task to AI (her pick: thank-you notes via Claude).
Me: do an AI audit of your home — every tool and device that uses AI. Ask if it's helping, harming, and what data it's collecting. Keep what serves you, ditch what doesn't.
Julie: open the dialogue with your kids and partner from a place of curiosity. Talk about AI early and often.
Deanna closed with beautiful line: "AI is changing fast. Parenting principles are not. Lead with love, lead with curiosity, and your values. That's how we raise AI-ready kids."
Keep the conversation going at raisingai.kids 💚
🌷 April 17: Mom 2.0 in Austin
I've never been to a conference centered on mothers before, and it was just as magical as I expected ✨

Sarah bringing the house down with her AI-powered podcast workflow!
I'm so grateful I had the chance to attend Mom 2.0 in Austin back in April.
First, I joined Sarah Dooley of AI-Empowered Mom in a conversation called AI-Empowered Mom: The Mom Entrepreneur's Guide to Strategic Implementation.
With Reese Witherspoon's recent viral video as a perfect backdrop for our chat, we discussed leveraging AI by using it strategically in our professional work and lives. We covered everything from Claude Code for admin work, building Claude projects to retain invaluable context, and replacing typing with talking across your phone and laptop to 4x productivity. Moms in the room shared their workflows and expertise too - it was an enriching exchange! We missed you, Stephanie LeBlanc-Godfrey (she/her) and Thembi Bheka.
Some other highlights included:
-Hanging out with my sister Zainab Shipchandler, MPH, MCHES, CLC
-Finally meeting Julie Kelleher for the first time
-Meeting the incredible Fareedah Shaheed aka @CyberFareedah aka my #1 resource for learning to keep kids safe online
-Probably the best expo products ever (water in juice boxes 🤯 and alllll the diaper bag refills I'll need for a while)

Fangirling over all these incredible women!
I even talked to several entrepreneurs to learn about up and coming AI apps and tech specifically for parents and caregivers: Nori, Ollie AI, and Backlit.
All the while I got support from Proxy and Ohai to help plan and coordinate my 1/2 weekend away from the family and 1/2 weekend where we'd be reunited for a Sunday Funday in ATX 🤠
Thanks to the Mom 2.0 team for a memorable weekend and looking forward to the next one 🏵️
💐 May 8: Future Ready Mom Summit
This past Friday, I had the honor of speaking at the Future Ready Mom Summit, hosted by Mahsa Rezai of Mama Nest. I presented my Busy Mom's Guide to AI Literacy, and we talked about how moms can be stewards of AI literacy in our families and communities.

A beautiful way to lead into Mother's Day — surrounded by mothers who aren't waiting for permission to step into the AI conversation! Thanks for having me, Mahsa 🙂
🌿 What's next
Well, it’s almost midnight, so it’s time for me to wrap up. As you can see, there’s no stopping this Ammi on our mission to bring all mothers into the AI conversation. There are a lot of tools and topics I want to discuss with y’all as well. So stay tuned. Hopefully, I’ll be popping up in your inbox a bit more regularly.

Thanks for spending a few of your precious, precious minutes with us.
See y’all soon,
Ruqaiya
