It’s almost Valentine’s Day, but it’s a tough time for hearts right now.
The world news and local news are pretty heartbreaking.
Ammi hearts are so precious because they usually have a surplus of what’s lacking in the world: empathy, compassion, kindness, love. We must protect them at all costs!
Happy Valentine’s Day, Ammis! Here’s to healing hearts, happy hearts, and healthy hearts.

Today’s apple: Claude
Speaking of heartbreak, but I've been seeing a lot of news about breakups recently.
It's the same story again and again: ChatGPT users are breaking up with the chatbot and switching over to Claude.
Based on our survey last week, 100% of respondents said their favorite AI chatbot is ChatGPT. As someone who has used both for almost three years, I want to dig into this and show you…

Over the next two editions of ammi.ai, I'll tell you more about Claude, how it's different from ChatGPT, why I like it, and some key features of the tool.
What's the difference?

Workin’ on my newsletter.

Happy Wednesday, Claude
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot powered by the GPT models developed by the company OpenAI.
Claude is an AI chatbot powered by models created by the company Anthropic—the current flagship model is Claude Sonnet 4.5 (part of the Claude 4.5 family, which includes Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku variants).
While both tools are powerful, many users find Claude excels particularly at nuanced writing tasks, coding, and analysis that requires careful reasoning.
A bit of history

The Amodei siblings co-founded Anthropic. Source: Forbes.
Some folks don’t know that Dario Amodei (now CEO of Anthropic) and his sister, Daniela Amodei (now President of Anthropic), were senior leaders at OpenAI, where they led safety research, before leaving in 2021 to start Anthropic. They cited fundamental differences in their approach to AI safety as the reason for leaving. This focus on responsible AI development remains central to Anthropic's mission.
Why I like Claude
As a longtime user of both platforms, I find Claude less sycophantic or people-pleasing than ChatGPT. The responses feel more grounded and conversational, and the writing quality is consistently good. When I give Claude my own writing to polish, it typically strikes the right balance—improving clarity and flow without over-editing or losing my voice.
As a non-coder, I also love using Claude to ‘vibe-code’ apps and websites. Essentially, I can describe what I want in plain English, and with Claude’s powerful coding capabilities and its Artifact feature, it will spin up draft apps and websites in a jiffy. I am currently vibe-coding an interactive game app for my local madrassah to help prepare the students for Ramadan!

I always start vibe-coding sessions by braindumping my idea using Wispr Flow and asking Claude to help me build a project brief.
Your turn
I'm curious about your experiences. If you're a Claude user, what do you like about it? What are your favorite features? And if you've considered switching from ChatGPT (or did switch), what were your reasons?
In the next ammi.ai newsletter, I’ll dig into some of my favorite features of Claude, and a mini-primer on something you may be hearing a lot of buzz about (or not at all, depending on your algorithm): Claude Code.

AI model vs. AI chatbots vs. AI tools
After digging into Claude, you might be curious about what other AI chatbots and AI tools are out there, and how to make sense of them. It seems everything is called ‘AI’ or ‘AI-powered’ nowadays.
Let's say OpenAI (the makers of ChatGPT) runs a peach farm. Their engineers grow the GPT AI models—let's call them peaches.

The Four Ways You Might Experience AI:
1. The peach (AI model) This is the raw ingredient—like GPT-5.2. It's been trained on massive amounts of data and turns your inputs into outputs. Most of us never interact with this directly.
2. Peaches in a cup (AI chatbot) OpenAI takes those peaches, cleans them, cuts them up, and serves them ready to eat. That's ChatGPT—a friendly interface that makes the AI model easy to use. No technical knowledge needed.
3. Peach pie (third-party AI app) Other developers take the same peaches and create specific dishes. These are standalone AI apps—like meal planning tools, email organizers, or presentation builders. Same base ingredient (GPT-5.2), very specific experiences.
4. Peach-flavored smoothie (AI-powered feature) This is when your favorite tools add a hint of AI. Canva is a great example—it's still the design tool you know and love, but now enhanced with AI features to improve your experience, such as image generation.
Why this matters:
When someone says "I use AI," they could mean any of these four things. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right tool for your needs—and explain AI to others more clearly.
Exploring peach cups
Just like we explored 2 prominent fruit cups, ChatGPT and Claude, above, there are several others you can test out to compare and contrast. These chatbots are similar in how you interact with them, but their strengths and limitations, capabilities, and styles may differ.

Note: this is not a comprehensive list! If you’re wondering why Microsoft’s Copilot isn’t on here, Copilot is actually powered by a mix of LLMs, primarily OpenAI’s GPT models! It’s Microsoft’s peach cup that uses OpenAI’s peaches 🙂
