Happy New Year Ammis & friends!
I try to do some goal-setting and strategizing at the end of every year, so I did just that at the end of 2025. You can find my favorite goal-setting frameworks in the ‘Fruitful Harvest’ section!
Many gurus say you should tell lots of people your goals. Nothing like social pressure to hold one accountable 😅
One of my four big goals pertains to you all! I need you to hold me accountable.
I want to fulfill my original vision and promise of ammi.ai: a free, bi-weekly AI literacy newsletter to help busy moms grow from AI-curious to AI-confident.
I want to publish 26 ammi.ai newsletters this year. One every two weeks.
I already have the dates set every other Wednesday with some shuffling for vacation and time off. They’re marked bright orange in my Big A## Planner (it’s actually called that).

I have no ties to the Big A## company, but I will say, this planner is awesome.

July is - so far - my least intense month. May it stay that way 🙏
When I reflected on 2025, there’s a lot I was proud of in the ammi.ai realm: workshops, developing courses, meeting incredible people, and growing our community.
But my biggest regret was this newsletter's inconsistency. I let that fall to the wayside and prioritized other things.
Writing this letter, hitting ‘publish’, and receiving thoughtful comments and messages after each send is the most energizing part of my ammi.ai journey. It’s not always easy, but growth happens on the outskirts of easy 🙂
Here’s to a new year of finding comfort in consistency.

Apple Sauce
The ‘sauce’ - or overview - on AI apps you may find useful.
Today’s apple: Tarteel AI
While we all debate whether AI helps or hurts our brains, here's an AI tool that can help us maximize its potential.
One of my goals this year is to continue progressing in Hifz al-Quran, which is the practice of memorizing the Quran. Beyond faith-based reasons to pursue this goal, I find it meditative and capacity building…kind of like strength training for my brain.

Tarrteel is an incredible app shared with me by a fellow Ammi in the community.
Even if you're not Muslim or aiming to memorize the Quran, I think it's a great example of how AI can be used to push us as humans. This AI tool doesn't cause cognitive decline; instead, it promotes cognitive expansion.

The process of memorizing the Quran involves memorizing new verses and revising those you've already memorized. A big challenge is finding time to memorize and practice with someone who can listen and correct you.
Tarteel solves this problem as an AI recitation tool. The app recognizes what you're praying, compares your recitation against the actual words of the Quran, and highlights mistakes in red. This allows you to practice with just your phone, making you more confident and prepared for sessions with a human expert.
As a busy Ammi, I have few precious moments in a day to sit down and practice my Quran. One of my ‘checkpoint’ goals for Q1 is to find a human musaaid/musaaida to listen to my Quran. In the meantime, practicing with Tarteel is helping me re-memorize Juz, or chapters, of the Quran that I forgot. I marvel at how the AI model distinguishes between similar Arabic sounds like س and ص, and captures nuanced differences.

In recitation mode, I can pray the verses, and the AI model will follow along. Mistakes are marked in red. I wish I could say those mistakes were just for example, but they are real ☹
If Hifz al-Quran is one of your goals, I hope this is useful. And if this specific case doesn’t pertain to you, I hope this shows how AI can be a brain-strengthening tool, and perhaps you can seek solutions that can help you in your own cognitive expansion pursuits, like learning a new language, for instance!

How to grow your AI Literacy in 2026 and beyond
Whether you’ve been a part of our garden for the last two years or have recently joined us, today I want to answer the #1 question that Ammis and friends ask me:
What is AI literacy and how do I become AI-literate?
There’s good news and bad news.
The bad news is AI literacy isn’t a one-and-done achievement. You don’t just take a course and boom — done forever. AI is evolving, and so must we.

But here’s the good news: There is a path. And we’ve built a structured, supportive, mom-centered framework to walk you through it.
Meet the AI Literacy Tree for Mothers

This framework — the AI Literacy Tree for Mothers — was purpose-built for moms like you. And it’s one of the only ones of its kind.
We started by reviewing well-regarded AI literacy frameworks (there aren't many — this is still new territory). None were designed with mothers in mind. So we took the common building blocks and infused them with the real questions, concerns, and hopes mothers have shared in our workshops and community spaces.

The result is a multi-layer growth framework that reflects both academic credibility and the realities of motherhood.

Let's walk through each layer, and over the coming weeks, we'll dig deeper into each one.
🌰 Seeds → Mindset first. Why do you want to join the AI conversation? What does it mean to be an AI-literate mother?
🌱 Soil → Your foundation. What is AI? How does it work? Why does it sometimes get things wrong?
🪴 Roots → Discernment. How do you evaluate AI tools and make values-aligned choices for your family?
🪵 Trunk → Protection. How does AI impact you and your family? What needs safeguarding in the AI age?
🌳 Branches → Collaboration. When to use AI, how to prompt effectively, and how to make it work for your life.
🍊 Fruit → Impacts. Lower mental load, amplify your strengths, unlock creativity, reduce screen time.
☀ 💦Nourish and Flourish → Like any living thing, your AI literacy needs ongoing care. Keep learning (water the roots), keep collaborating (provide sunlight), and share what you've learned (propagate the seeds).
Because the more thoughtful, informed, empathetic Ammis we have in the AI conversation, the better our collective future will be.
Over the next several editions of this newsletter, we'll dig deeper into each layer.
I can’t wait to see what our beautiful grove of AI Literacy Trees will look like this time next year. Let’s get growing, Ammis 🌳

Fruitful Harvest
Fresh AI picks from the community garden.
These aren’t necessarily all AI-related, but I wanted to share my favorite productivity/goal-setting resources that I like to revisit to kick-start a fruitful year!
🍒 Annual Planning Guide by Sahil Bloom - a goal-setting framework without the overwhelm. 4 goals: 2 personal, 2 professional, with daily actions so you can actually progress toward them in an intentional, consistent way.
🍇 Ali Adbaal’s Goal Setting Framework - I actually do both of these goal-setting exercises in tandem. You can follow productivity expert Ali Abdaal’s method for a more zoomed-out view of how you want your life to look in the next 1, 3, 5, and 10 years. Here is a template I made to follow along!
🍉 Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman - The first thing I love about this book is how it is broken up. It is a series of 28 short chapters so that you can read one a day over four weeks. Progressing through this book is how I would like to achieve my goals: day by day with simple, accessible actions. You’ll learn how to accept the finitude of life and just do things.
